Opportunity for the ASTEP project

Dear Industrial Colleagues,

We invite you and your esteemed team to participate in a research study focused on assessing industrial interest in the Application of Solar Thermal Energy to Industrial Processes (ASTEP), a novel system commissioned by the EU under the Solar Heat for Industrial Process (SHIP) strategy. The system is designed to provide up to 120 MWh of solar thermal energy annually, suitable for medium to high-temperature requirements of up to 400°C. Currently, ASTEP prototypes are operational in two industries located in both low and high-latitude regions, and have demonstrated significant benefits, including a 20% reduction in energy consumption, annual cost savings of up to €25,000, and a reduction of 45 tonnes in CO₂ emissions per year.

If you would like more information on ASTEP, please feel free to visit our website: https://astepproject.eu/.

To this end, we invite an appropriate representative from your organisation to complete a brief 25-question survey crafted to understand industrial perceptions regarding the acceptance, feasibility, and potential for strategic upscaling of ASTEP integration in different industrial settings. This survey will provide more details on ASTEP, highlighting key performance metrics and delving into financial benefits observed. Please find the survey link below:

Please complete the Consent Form provided on the first page before starting the survey.

If your organisation expresses interest in adopting ASTEP and wishes to further engage in the research, a subsequent follow-up survey will be conducted within your cohort. This follow-up aims to delve deeper into specific considerations for implementing ASTEP within your industrial facility.

To assist your participation, a Participant Information Sheet (PIS) is included in this email, offering detailed instructions on accessing and completing the survey. Reviewing the PIS beforehand will address any queries or concerns you may have prior to providing your valuable input. Please note there is no time limit for completing this survey. Your participation is entirely voluntary, and there is no obligation to take part.

Confidentiality and Ethical Approval:

I assure you that all information shared in this survey will be treated with utmost confidentiality and held securely for research purposes only. The data will not be accessible to any external entities affiliated with your institute or organization. Ethical approval for this study has been granted by Brunel's Research Ethics Committee, ensuring compliance with ethical guidelines.
