KNEIA is seeking a project coordinator and partners to participate in the NATURVALUE project to develop comprehensive assessment and modeling tools to quantify and analyze the socio-economic impacts of nature restoration efforts, including their benefits and costs across different timeframes and regions. The research will support policy-makers, stakeholders, and businesses in designing and implementing effective nature restoration measures by providing science-based insights into the territorial, financial, and social distribution of these impacts.
TOPIC “HORIZON-CL6-2025-01-BIODIV-06: Assessing and modelling socio-economic impacts of nature restoration” indicates: “The EU Nature Restoration Regulation sets binding targets for 2030 and 2050, with an incremental implementation. (…) R&I activities are expected to: 1) conduct sector-specific assessments to measure the comprehensive economic and social (including employment) impacts and benefits of nature restoration (…); 2) employ a multidisciplinary approach combining at least expertise in economics, ecology, social sciences, geography, sustainability and environmental science (…). 3) develop and validate modelling approaches, that can build on existing environmental and socio-economic models, to analyse the economic, social and employment impacts and benefits of nature restoration (…); 4) enable understanding of the incremental progress in nature restoration between the 2030 and 2050 target years to guide public and private stakeholders in their continued actions through quantification of socio-economic benefits and impacts of individual measures; 5) improve the understanding of the possibilities and limitations of tools for socio-economic assessments of nature restoration, particularly with regard to the non-market benefits.”
The outcomes of the project research will contribute to providing science-based tools and methodologies for assessing the socio-economic impacts of nature restoration, enabling informed decision-making by policy-makers, stakeholders, and financial institutions, while ensuring sustainable socio-economic benefits across European regions.
