Project Proposal
Seeking partners to develop Horizon Europe projects on sustainable resource recovery and CO₂-based separation technologies
Can act as:
Seeking expertise:
The Laboratory of Supercritical Diffusion at the University of Coimbra (Portugal) is seeking new collaborations for Horizon Europe, LIFE and EIC proposals addressing sustainable resource recovery, circular economy, industrial decarbonisation and climate action. Our laboratory develops advanced CO₂-based separation technologies and transport phenomena research, bridging fundamental science with process innovation and technology maturation.
We can contribute expertise in supercritical CO₂ technologies, diffusion and thermodiffusion, green separation processes, process development, laboratory validation and pilot-scale technology maturation.
Our objective is to develop innovative, low-carbon technologies for the selective recovery of valuable resources from complex waste streams, industrial residues, biomass and secondary raw materials, combining advanced separation processes with sustainable recycling and valorisation strategies.
We are particularly interested in collaborating with:
* Industrial partners willing to validate technologies on real waste streams or provide demonstration cases.
* Research groups working on chemical and biological recycling, green hydrometallurgy, biotechnology, catalysis, membrane technologies, advanced materials or polymer science.
* Experts in Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage (CCUS), geological storage, CO₂ utilisation and climate technologies.
* Specialists in Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), Techno-Economic Assessment (TEA), digitalisation, process modelling and scale-up.
* Technology providers and SMEs interested in developing pilot-scale and demonstration activities.
Potential application areas include Critical Raw Materials recovery, electronic waste, industrial residues, battery recycling, sustainable bioeconomy, biomass valorisation, extraction of high-value bioactive compounds, CO₂-based green separation technologies and circular industrial processes.
We welcome opportunities to build new consortia or join existing initiatives where complementary expertise can accelerate the development and deployment of sustainable technologies with high environmental and industrial impact.
