Seeking expertise:
Dear All,
We want to take part in HORIZON-CL6-2024-CircBio-02-1-two-stage:Circular solutions for textile value chains through innovative sorting, recycling, and design for recycling call.
We look for partners/consortium collaborate on this call. We can act as WP leader.
In this call, we offer solvent based-recycling methodology obtaining virgin-like polymers especially in polyolefin products, advanced purification of recycled textile wastes.
In more detail, we can contribute to:
1."Increased uptake of mechanical recycling solutions that deliver competitive, high-quality secondary materials”
-Sabancı University can obtain virgin-like polymers with the advanced mechanical recycling method based on solvent based recycling methodology, especially in polyolefin products. Here, a new solvent platform can be proposed or the solvent suggested by another partner can be studied. The reusability of the recovered polymers in textiles can also be studied by other partners.
2.“Roll-out of thermo-mechanical, chemical and other (e.g., enzymatic) recycling solutions that are sustainable from a zero-pollution, circular material and energy efficiency perspective”
- Sabanci University’s solvent based-recycling methodology can contribute to all of this aspects. We are also open to collaboration and new ideas on pet depolymerization & re-polymerization and enzymatic recycling.
3."Facilitation of the disintegration of textile products”:
- Textile products can consist of various non-textile components or accessories, and can be coated, laminated or printed on. These hard parts, trims, coatings and laminated layers hamper recycling and are a major barrier for practically all textile fibre recycling technologies. The removal of these non-textile components requires disassembly prior to recycling, adding costs to the overall recycling process. Targeted and selective dissolving process can dissolve the desired polymers and separate the unwanted ones. Sabancı University can contribute to this scope by selective dissolution and recycling.
4. “Further development of textile recycling Technologies”:
-Mechanical recycling of textiles is a readily available technology in the market. However, the quality of the recycled materials is low in terms of color and mechanical strength. So, obtaining virgin-like polymers by Sabanci University’s novel solvent-based purification methodology can contribute to spinnability and colour issues of the recycled textiles.
