Project Proposal

The current study aims to explore the meaning of recovery for siblings of individuals with severe mental health illnesses (SMI) across two different countries and develop a conceptual empowerment model to improve the recovery for siblings and individuals with SMI.
The study has two important aims:
(1) Semi-structured interviews with siblings of individuals with severe mental health illnesses in both two countries will be conducted to investigate their views toward recovery. Thematic analysis will be used to explore themes relevant to the recovery. The consistent and unique themes will be shared based on the countries.
(2) Researchers will develop a sibling empowerment model to improve the mutual recovery process of people with severe mental health illness based on outcomes working with the siblings.
