Call: EP PerMed Research, Innovation and Technology Call 2026 (RITC2026)
Our aim is to submit a project focused on multimodal data–driven personalised management of patients with colorectal cancer (CRC) and multimorbidity. The proposal will address:
Development and validation of predictive models for CRC outcomes
Management and analysis of multicentre clinical and administrative data (quality, anonymisation)
Implementation of innovative digital solutions in hospital and virtual environments
Clinical validation, demonstration, and support for real-world adoption
About FIBAO
FIBAO – Foundation for Biomedical Research in Eastern Andalusia “Alejandro Otero” is a non-profit organisation supporting biomedical research within the Andalusian Public Health System. It manages the iBS.Granada Research Centre and several hospitals in Eastern Andalusia, hosting ~500 researchers and providing services to ~8,000 patients per year. FIBAO has solid expertise in project management and clinical trial coordination, and in translating research into practical tools for healthcare.
Research Team Expertise
The team is a multidisciplinary group from FIBAO, Torrecárdenas University Hospital (HUT) and CIBERESP, led by Dr Juan Manuel García Torrecillas. The group has strong experience in:
CRC epidemiology and real-world data (RWD)
Predictive models of in-hospital mortality in CRC (ISCIII-funded project PI16/01931)
Web-based tools for mortality prediction in CRC and stroke
The team includes experts in internal medicine, emergency medicine, oncological surgery, epidemiology, biostatistics, AI/machine learning, and innovation/knowledge transfer, with patents and IP, participation in CIBERESP, PAIDI (CTS 1049), EPINOTRANS-18, IMA S0064 and NeuroTICs Lab.
Partners We Are Looking For
We are seeking partners to build a multidisciplinary, intersectoral consortium, including:
Clinical partners with capacity to recruit large CRC cohorts and provide access to hospital databases, registries, biobanks and anonymised longitudinal data
Data and AI teams (epidemiology, biostatistics, clinical informatics, multimodal data analysis, ML/AI in Python/R, handling imbalanced data)
Partners for implementation and validation in real hospital settings, clinical simulators and virtual platforms
Groups with expertise in ethics, GDPR, FAIR data, DMPs and regulatory aspects
Patient and citizen organisations, including minority groups, for participatory research and social impact
We invite researchers, clinical centres, data science groups and patient organisations interested in multimodal data, predictive models and personalised medicine in CRC to join this initiative.
