Collaboration Opportunity: ROOTS – Rural Outreach of Teaching Science

We are seeking collaborators for ROOTS, a transnational initiative led by IRBLleida aimed at bringing biomedical research and science communication to rural and mountain communities. This collaboration opportunity is open to research institutions, universities, science communication organizations, and community-oriented interested in participatory science, citizen engagement, and health education.

Objective of the collaboration:
We aim to co-design and implement interactive workshops, citizen science activities, and multilingual outreach materials that connect biomedical research with rural communities. The collaboration seeks to:

-Expand the reach and impact of biomedical research in underserved areas.
-Promote citizen participation and co-creation of science activities.
-Increase visibility of EU-funded research and cohesion policy in peripheral regions.

Expertise sought:
We are particularly looking for partners with experience in:

-Science communication and public engagement, especially in rural contexts.
-Biomedical research translation or health education.
-Citizen science methodology and participatory research.
-Multimedia content production (videos, podcasts, infographics) for diverse audiences.
-Network building and dissemination of educational initiatives at a European scale.

Expected outcomes from the collaboration:
-Co-organized workshops and citizen science activities reaching at least 800 participants.
-Development of multilingual outreach materials for wider dissemination.
-Contribution to a lasting European rural science outreach network.
