We are working to support a major Multi-National Corporate Pharmaceutical partner to source ingredient-based innovative solutions to improve gum health by modulating the oral microbiome 🦠🦷✨
Microbiome Modulation for Gum Health — Challenge Summary
Deadline: 1 May 2026 at 11:59pm BST! ⏰
Submitted solutions will be reviewed between May 15 - June 15, at which point you will be notified if your submission has been shortlisted to proceed to the next round of analysis and technical discussion. Potential funding opportunities for selected submissions will be discussed at the following stage.
Core Objectives
Solutions should achieve one or more of the following:
- Protect a healthy microbiome from dysbiosis (imbalance)
- Treat early-stage gingivitis and restore microbial balance
- Build resilience toward a stable, health-associated microbiome state
What We're Looking For:
- Three types of ingredient solutions are in scope: prebiotics, postbiotics, and oral environment modifiers.
- Researchers from adjacent fields (gut, skin, or environmental microbiomes, AI-driven discovery) are explicitly encouraged to apply if their science can translate to oral care.
- Probiotics (live organisms) are excluded.
Who Should Apply:
- Academics, biotechs, startups, and ingredient suppliers — at any stage of development, from early-stage science to implementation-ready ingredients.
For early-stage technologies requiring further validation or adaptation, collaborative development funding opportunities may be available 💸 including:
- Proof-of-concept validation studies
- Ingredient translation into oral care formats
- Oral microbiome impact characterisation
