Seeking expertise:
I am leading research at the Technological University of the Shannon (TUS), Ireland, focused on the design, synthesis, and development of bio-based and sustainable polymer systems. My expertise covers a broad range of polyurethanes, polyesters, epoxy resins, alkyds, urethane acrylates, and hybrid polymer networks, tailored for high-performance coatings, adhesives, foams, and composite materials.
My research aims to replace conventional fossil-based and toxic chemical systems with renewable, low-carbon, and circular alternatives. I have developed formaldehyde-free adhesives, bio-based polyurethane coatings and foams, alkyd and epoxy coatings, UV- and air-curable urethane acrylates, and hybrid resin formulations for wood, metal, and construction applications.
I actively utilize a variety of bio-based raw materials such as plant oils (e.g., Camelina, linseed, soybean), fatty acids, tannins, starches, wheat straw, seaweed extracts, and soy flour, along with other lignocellulosic and marine-derived resources. These natural feedstocks are used to synthesize functional polyols and resins with tailored chemical structures that deliver durability, flexibility, and sustainability across multiple end uses.
The goal of these collaborations is to co-create safe, high-performance, and fully bio-based polymer materials, enabling the replacement of hazardous chemicals with renewable, sustainable, and circular solutions that meet the performance standards of modern industry.
