NOTE: The Government of Canada and the European Commission signed an agreement allowing Canada's enhanced participation in Horizon Europe under Pillar 2. This agreement allows Canada to participate under similar conditions as EU Member States. As specified in the draft call “International cooperation is encouraged”

IVADO ( https://ivado.ca/ ) is a research, training and knowledge mobilization consortium in artificial intelligence. The Canadian universities composing the consortium are Université de Montréal, HEC Montréal, Polytechnique Montréal, McGill University and Université Laval. We are used to managing top-tier grants, being ourselves partly funded by a Canada First Research Excellency Fund of 125M CAD (80M Euros) for the second time.

Our research group states that exploring and exploiting the design spaces of molecules and materials in terms of synthesis, processes and characterization, requires access to large quantities of high-quality multimodal data, which is a bottleneck. The use of robust AI is therefore essential, as is the integration of aspects of the scientific method, where AI behaves like an expert to be reasoning to develop predictive protocols informed by current knowledge. The concept of responsibility applies in the context where models must align with values linked to the development of molecules and materials, such as eco-responsibility.
Our team is composed of researchers from materials science, chemistry and artificial intelligence who are also directors or members of major research groups or infrastructures (Mila in AI, Institut Courtois in materials, IRIC in bioinformatics)

TRL: we have functioning research projects on existing infrastructure as well as collaborators at start-ups. As partners for this call, we will build a sub-group of relevant people.
