City-to-City Exchange: Chania is looking for four Partner Cities!

The Municipality of Chania (Greece) is developing two Visionary Solutions with the support of the VARCITIES project:
Visionary Solution 1: A mobile urban living room is a flexible, multifunctional structure that will be set up in different areas of the city. It aims to redefine citizens' relationship with public space and nature. As a meeting place, MULαR will encourage citizens to engage in various social and cultural activities, thus enhancing the value of green spaces.
Visionary Solution 2 will support the installation of sensor kits on both public and private bicycles. Public bike stations will also be equipped to measure pollutants (PMx, noise, humidity, etc.). The data will be combined with health measurements from the bike's smart handlebars (oxymeters) and enriched with data from weather stations, bike sharing system usage, questionnaires, apps, statistical services and observatories.
With the above visionary solutions, Chania aims to address the following 3 challenges:
1. Lack / low number of visitors to the city's public green spaces
2. Deteriorating air quality and high levels of noise pollution caused by car traffic, especially during the high season.
3. Lack of available and geo-tagged health data in the city
If your city is facing similar challenges and you are interested in discovering Chania's experience in VARCITIES, apply now to become Chania's partner city!
You will also have the opportunity to learn how to better track health-related data in your city using new IT technologies.
